TheMetalDen.com has uncovered an original, isolated guitar track from the Ozzy Osbourne song “Crazy Train,” as performed by the late Randy Rhoads. The guitarist — a Les Paul loyalist — died tragically in a freak plane crash in 1982 at age 25, but not before building a lasting legacy with his electrifying guitar work.

Although it’s not a term that can be applied to many guitarists, as a “solo flatpicking instrumentalist,” David Grier has few peers. He has been one of bluegrass’s premier guitarists since his debut album, Freewheeling, appeared in 1988, but his solo album I’ve Got the House to Myself (2002) was arguably the first to display the full range of his talents.

Handwired-Effects has announced the VTR-1 Vintage Tremelo. VTR-1 was designed to re-create the natural smooth swing of the tremolo-equipped tube amps from the 50’s and 60’s. An upcoming musical video game lets players strum a real six-string electric guitar instead of tapping buttons on a fake instrument. "Power Gig: Rise of the SixString" is a game first and foremost. But its maker, Seven45 Studios, said players will be able to plug the guitar that comes with it into a standard amp and play real music.

On Sunday, February 28, 2010, the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games held a closing ceremony that was broadcast to an audience of millions around the world from Vancouver’s BC Place. A highlight was a performance from Canadian-born artist Avril Lavigne, who performed her hits “My Happy Ending” and “Girlfriend.” Alongside Lavigne was guitarist Devin Bronson, literally shining with his custom-designed VOX silver sparkle Virage guitar.
