How many birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas or special occasions have you spent with your family and friends? In how many of those have you got a gift that sucks? Yes, my fellow guitar players. I know. I can feel your pain... Over my 20+ years of being a guitar player, I've never received a guitar gift! "Well, I don't know anything about guitars", "There's so much equipment and stuff, I can't possibly know what you like", "You have so much guitar stuff, most likely I'll choose something you already have", "You are so picky with music, so I'm afraid you won't like it"... and the list goes on! Until now, that is. That's why I built "The Guitar Wishlist", a tool for guitar players, designed by a guitar player (me). The steps are very simple, so let's get started...

There are a few options: Open search You can just search for guitar stuff you like. Since this is an open search, anything goes. Don't know what to search for? Think about some common questions: who is your favorite guitar player?, who makes the guitar(s) you own?, who makes your favorite pedal(s)?, who plays the last song you heard?, who did you last see in a concert?
 Gift ideas Don't know what to look for? No problem. I'm always looking for gift ideas and recommendations. This box has a list of items I thought you might like. You can click on the "More..." link to get it refreshed with more recommendations.  Related Items There is something you liked and want to see if there's more stuff like it? Every time you add an item to the wishlist, the tool performs a search for similar products and displays it in this section. You can also call it by hovering on any thumbnail and selecting "Find similar items".  
Adding items to your wishlist: Click on the item thumbnail You can just click on the thumbnail and it'll get added to your wishlist  Click on the "Add to Wishlist" link This link gets displayed when you hover on each thumbnail (yes, the box with the title, price and bigger image)  *Certain content that appears on this site comes from Amazon Services LLC. This content is provided 'as is' and is subject to change or removal at any time. This is what your wishlist looks like once you start adding items to it:  Removing items from your wishlist: Click on the "Remove" icon on each wishlist item When you hover on a wishlist item, a garbage icon gets displayed. Clicking on it will remove the item from the wishlist 
Once you're done adding items to your wishlist, we need few extra details:
The last step, tell everyone! What good is a wishlist if no one knows about it? TopOfGuitar.com generates a web link where people can view your wishlist. Here I have included links to the most popular social networking sites and of course, plain old e-mail. So, send it to as many people as you can! 
This is what the wishlist will look like. It has all the items you selected, your comments, price, etc. You can always edit it if you want. 
This tool is primarily built using the Amazon Product Advertising API, which runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Basically, amazon.com makes their product information available to external websites (like TopOfGuitar.com) through the use of widgets or by calling their web services. Of course, it's not as simple as it sounds! Since amazon has hundreds of thousands of products, I wanted to make it easier for you to find great guitar gifts. That's why I put together a recommendation engine based on my 20+ years experience as a guitar player, and TopOfGuitar users' picks. As you can imagine, most of TopOfGuitar.com visitors are guitar players. This makes the selection of products more targeted, which means, easier for you to find great guitar gifts! I will be constantly adding features and making The Guitar Wishlist very intelligent at finding guitar products, so stay tuned.
